Scholarship for Doctoral Program in Business (DPB) is now opened under the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Cooperation Program, Building Human Resource Capacity for Enhancing Competitiveness of the Region. It is a fulltime PhD program conducted fully in English and awarded by the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Thammasat University, Thailand, where students are extensively trained to develop their full research potential and competency necessary to succeed in academia and consultancy-related careers. The emphasis of the PhD research to be conducted under this scholarship scheme will be in GMS related business issues. 2 scholarships on an annual basis are provided to outstanding candidates.

Background: Leaders of the six GMS1 countries have met in Vientiane, Lao PDR between March 30-31, 2008 to discuss the progress and chart future directions in GMS cooperation. The theme of the triennial meeting, the third among GMS Leaders, was "Enhancing Competitiveness Through Greater Connectivity" and aimed to sustain and deepen economic cooperation and integration efforts among the GMS countries in order to better meet development challenges and realize the common vision of an integrated, harmonious and prosperous subregion.

Thailand as a member of the GMS was requested by the Asian Development Bank to open the discussion on "Building Human Resource Capacity for Enhanced Competitiveness" during the triennial meeting held in Vientiane.

In response to this request, the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy at the Thammasat University would like to support the leading role of Thailand in building human resource capacity in the GMS by offering scholarships for PhD studies in business at the Faculty.

The Faculty will provide 2 full time scholarships on an annual basis to the most outstanding candidate from the GMS countries. The emphasis of the PhD research to be conducted under this scholarship scheme will be in GMS related business issues.

Candidate Requirements :

1. Must be a citizen of GMS countries, i.e. Cambodia, China (Yunnan and Guanxi province), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

2. Hold at least a Master degree recognized by the Thai Office of Civil Service Commission.

3. TOFEL score of no less than 600 for paper-based exam and 250 for computer-base method or IELTS 6.5 or TU-GET score of no less then 600. The submitted English score should not be valid for more than 2 years after the test was taken.

4. GMAT score of no less than 550 or a minimum GRE score of 1100. The score can not be valid for more than 5 years after the test was taken.
