Parents of Our Future Students

SCMT provides an opportunity for parents to discuss with us in details what your children will receive from us. Every year, we organize an information day to provide in depth information about our courses and services we offer. If you miss this year's event, or simply cannot attend, below is some general information for you as a starting point.

Language used in the programs offered at SCMT

SCMT follows a bilingual (Lao and English) approach in all its programs. Students will undertake the program conducted in either Lao or English based on their ability and the availability of the program. Students must meet the English proficiency requirements of the College before they can undertake program conducted in English.

How are students selected at our college?

Generally we do not choose who will enter our college. Instead, it is your choice that we are the centre to provide the best education to your children. The only requirement we ask is that your children completed a high school education, or equivalent. We also ask that your children sit a placement test (English and Mathematics) to determine an appropriate class for them.

How do they apply?

Students have to submit their application form in person. However, information and other enquiries can be obtained via telephone and email contacts. If you would like to find out what requirements your children may need, please talk to our friendly staff.

How much does it costs to go to SCMT?

We provide courses based on a not-for-profit maximizing philosophy. You will find, after talking to us, that what we offer is invaluable. What we receive from parents and students alike, we put back into improving our services and equipments. As a result, you will find that our resources are always adequate and up to date.

Together with knowledge and skills, students will gain memorable experience with us. Chances to learn and practice with experts in their fields of study, intense exposure to the real working world, and various bodies of contacts are only few benefits students will receive while studying with us.

Students can choose to enroll on a semester or yearly basis. We require payment for every semester students are enrolled. For further information on payment methods and system, please contact our Admission Office.

What scholarships are available?

Every year, we offer our best students a chance to study with us free of charge, as a way to support their good effort. If you would like to know if your children are eligible, please contact us for further information.

How many hours of class will students attend each week?

This varies according to their courses or programs. Generally, there are 15 contact hours for a bachelor program, and 6 hours for short courses.

Will SCMT help students find jobs?

SCMT is a centre for education and business contacts. Students will find that, by the end of their programs, they have established valuable contacts for their prospective jobs. During their course of study, students will visit various business enterprises so that they can anticipate what is available to them.

Moreover, our teaching staffs are experts from the fields, ranging from government agencies, international development agencies in Laos, etc. This will provide students with close contacts to the prospective employers.

Because our programs enable students to be productive in the real world, our graduates will be sought after by many industries. If students find that they need assistance in finding the right job, please contact our experience staff.
